JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION TITLE: FSC COLLEGE CORNER LEAD WORKER
SUMMARY OF DUTIES RELATING TO PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
The FamilySource Center (FSC) program is funded by the City of Los Angeles Community Investment For Families (CIFD) Department. This FSC program serves as the City's delivery system for anti-poverty initiatives by providing a continuum of core services designed to assist low-income families in becoming self-sufficient by increasing family income and youth academic achievement.
Under the direction of the FSC Program Director, the College Corner Lead Worker is responsible for overseeing & coordinating College Corner services, activities & workshops to assist MS/HS Students to navigate the path through the college process. Lead will assist CCW in formulating a service plan that assist students in understanding post-secondary options and increased academic achievement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and assist three College Corner Workers in formulating a service plan that assist students in understanding post-secondary options and increased academic achievement.
- Oversee College Corner programming, outreach, recruitment & enrollment
- Conduct an initial pre-screening assessment to determine program eligibility and suitability.
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment and assist student in identifying short and long-term academic goals and formulate an individual customer service plan to attain goals.
- Coordinating an array of academic, mentorship and leadership services designed to address the multiple of low-income first-generation youth becoming academically self-sufficient.
- Provide information referral assistance and advocate on behalf of the student in obtaining needed services both in-house and through outside service providers.
- Assist students with resources/information for college/university admissions, applying for financial aid (FAFSA) fee waivers for college applications (SAT,ACT,AP)
- Coordinate tutoring, homework assistance, mentoring services to middle/high school students to ensure students are supported around short and long-term academic goals by reviewing alongside students’ transcripts and report cards.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely documentation of all customer-based services in the City’s CIFD Sales Force Data Entry System.
- Coordinate educational / recreational activities and help transport students in company van.
- Work closely with LAUSD PSA to ensure continuity of care between LAUSD & FSC
- Serves as Liaison between local schools and BH FSC
- Participate in various FSC program, community-related activities, attend case management related trainings, seminars workshops as requested by FSC Program Director.
- Adhere to daily/ weekly work schedule as agreed upon
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform the job successfully.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related human services field, or currently enrolled in full-time or part-time post-secondary education (4-year university or community college) and / or Minimum of 2 years’ related experience.
EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:
EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:
- Bilingual Required (English/Spanish)
- Energetic, outgoing, self-starter, strong oral communication & written skills
- Experience in coordinating youth based recreational & civic activities
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Employment is subject to applicants’ successful completion of a criminal background check and/or life scan as required by the Federal, State, City of Los Angeles and local government entities
- TB clearance, to be renewed every two years
- Must have reliable a valid California Driver License and/or Identification. State required automobile insurance coverage if applicable

FULL TIME POSITION: 40 Hours Per Week, with Benefits
STARTING MONTHLY SALARY: $3,900
Compensation: $3,900.00 - $4,050.00 per month
